Her special interests include exotics, feline medicine, and animal behavior, but she loves to see it all! Outside of work, Dr. Esmond enjoys spending time at one of the Cape’s many walking and biking trails, relaxing with one (or more) of her 7 cats, listening to vinyl, and riding her motorcycle. She is elated to be back with the team that helped her begin her journey in veterinary medicine and give back to her hometown community!

Dr. Sarah Lord

DVM / Medical Director Leadership

Dr. Sarah Lord was born and raised in Southeastern Connecticut where she attended the University of Connecticut to earn a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences. She attended Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She then moved to New York City to start her career in a small animal rotating emergency and surgery internship. Since, she has practiced in Middletown, Connecticut and Oak Harbor, Washington as a small animal general practitioner. She settled in East Sandwich, MA with her husband and four pets in January of 2022 and was very excited to join the amazing team at Oceanside Animal Hospital.

Outside of work her two amazing pups (Bear and Brie) and two purrrfect felines (Ember and Beverly) keep her busy. She is an avid reader, big time hiker, she loves to kayak and is so thankful that her husband is a marine ecologist as it guarantees they will always live by the ocean.

Dr. Jessica Peterson

DVM

Dr. Peterson grew up in Falmouth and has always had a love for animals. As a child she had many pets (guinea pigs, rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, parakeets, finches, fish, dogs, cats), and was a dedicated equestrian. She leaned into her passion for animals at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she majored in Animal Science, worked in the Livestock barn with sheep and goats, and ultimately became president of the student-run goat herd. Her interest in science and medicine was founded in class at UMass, and she graduated with a Pre- Veterinary focus to her Animal Science degree. After graduation, she worked in a small animal emergency and referral hospital as a veterinary nurse before moving to Glendale, AZ to attend Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine. After vet school, Dr. Peterson moved back to New England and joined Oceanside as an Associate Veterinarian.

When not at work, Dr. Peterson can be found in her garden, at the beach, out birding, or at home with her husband and their two dogs (Suki the Great Dane and Balto the Husky), and their beloved kitty, Oreo.

Michelle Silveira, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Michelle grew up in northern California but has called New England home since 2005. She earned her degree in veterinary technology at Vermont State University and shortly thereafter became a certified veterinary technician upon passing the national certification exam. She has since maintained her certification each year by fulfilling continuing education requirements.

Michelle has loved animals of all kinds since she was very young. She grew up with an opera singing double yellow-headed amazon parrot. During childhood she also loved an Afghan hound, teddy bear hamster, albino parakeet, goldfish and dwarf rex rabbit. She now shares her life with a very opinionated rescue Husky/Hound mix, Lulu.

Before joining Oceanside in August of 2023 Michelle worked at Angell Animal Medical Center supporting the staff surgeons. She is thrilled to have found the close-knit Oceanside team to share her passion for animals with moving forward.

When not working Michelle enjoys music, cooking, baking, travel adventures, antiquing, playing with the doggo and game day with friends and family. She says ‘the struggle is real’ to resist bringing home one of everything when it comes to companion animals.

Barry

Barry joined our Oceanside family in January of 2023 after first being a patient! Following successful treatment for a foot infection, Petsmart of Plymouth kindly gifted him to Dr. Esmond and the staff of Oceanside as a thank-you! What Barry lacks in toes on his left foot, he more than makes up for in personality! Barry enjoys meeting new people, but generally considers himself a homebody and is still getting acquainted with the great outdoors (ask to see his dragon wing harness!). He loves cilantro, mealworms, and crickets and is learning to enjoy his daily warm baths. Please say hi to him next time you visit us!
